MONROVIA, LIBERIA – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2024 – The Liberia National Police (LNP) Anti-Robbery Unit has arrested five individuals in connection with the armed robbery of Joseph Xu, a Chinese national residing in Congo Town. The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Johnson (alias Wallace), Alfred Lablah (alias Puyol), Junior Bundor (alias Prince), Malachi Eze (alias Promise), and Leemu Tabah, were apprehended on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
According to a press statement from the LNP, the suspects are accused of breaking into Joseph Xu’s home on September 13, 2024, at around 2:00 AM. The investigation revealed that the group allegedly held Xu and his wife at gunpoint, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash and other valuable items.
Further investigations uncovered that the same suspects were attempting another break-in at Xu’s residence around 12:45 AM on October 3 when they were intercepted by the Anti-Robbery Unit. The police arrested them while they were in two separate vehicles, a taxi (TX-03201) and a Nissan sedan without license plates.
Several tools and items were recovered during the arrest, including a pin-bar, a steel cutter, and diazepam, a drug allegedly used to incapacitate their victims. The two vehicles involved are currently impounded at the LNP headquarters as the investigation continues.
