LNP DISMISSES TWO OFFICERS FOR CRIMINAL MISCONDUCT AND ABUSE OF AUTHORITY

MONROVIA – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has dismissed Patrolmen Edwin T. Ceasar and Stephen B. Wanawon, both assigned to the Police Support Unit, after findings of criminal misconduct, abuse of authority, and unsatisfactory conduct.

According to a police press release issued Thursday, August 28, 2025, and signed by DCP Cecelia G. Clarke, Spokesperson of the Liberia National Police, the action followed a comprehensive internal administrative investigation conducted by the Professional Standards Department. The investigation established that both officers violated the LNP Administrative Instructions on Discipline and Professional Standards, as well as the Discipline Regulations of 2016.

“In keeping with the LNP’s commitment to integrity, accountability, and the rule of law, the officers have been removed from active duty and turned over to the Criminal Service Department for further investigation and prosecution,” the release stated.

The LNP stressed that disciplinary measures such as these demonstrate its determination to maintain public trust by upholding the highest standards of conduct. The release added that the police remain committed to serving the public with neutrality, professionalism, and respect for human rights.

“The Liberia National Police remains resolute in its mission to serve the public with neutrality, professionalism, and respect for human rights. Disciplinary actions such as these reflect our ongoing efforts to uphold the highest standards of conduct and restore public trust in law enforcement. We thank the public for its continued cooperation and support as we work together to build a safer and more just Liberia,” the statement concluded.
