MONROVIA – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has reported a series of violent crimes and safety concerns across several counties, highlighting an urgent need for public vigilance and law enforcement intervention. Delivering the update on ELBC Radio 99.9 FM during the Friday, November 14, 2025 edition of Police Report, Deputy Chief of Police Cecelia G. Clarke provided details on armed robberies, homicides, illegal mining, and narcotics-related deaths affecting communities across Liberia.
In Montserrado County, Clarke revealed that suspects Mark Quaye, alias “Mackie Boy,” and Marvellous J. Neh, alias “Koko,” have been sent to court for their role in attacking Emmanuel Ghattey and stealing his motorbike on October 28. She explained that the victim was assaulted by two motorbikes carrying six men armed with cutlasses, and that other suspects, including Take Call, Shargay, and Twenty Four, are charged in absentia. Clarke emphasized that police investigations are ongoing to apprehend all perpetrators.
Clarke also reported a tragic drowning in Grand Kru County. Julius Toe, who had been mining on a boat in the Noh River, was found dead on November 6. “A 15-man coroner jury has ruled the cause of death as drowning,” Clarke said, noting that several individuals, including Thomas Mile, Pascal T. Harris, Clark P. Williams, John K. Toe, Morris P. Kofa, Bill N. Martu, and Sackor Larmine, have been charged for operating an illegal mining pit and failing to ensure safety measures.
In River Gee County, Clarke confirmed the arrest of 20-year-old Chris Teh for fatally attacking Moses with a machete on November 11 in Chedepo Putuken. She stated that the victim bled profusely and was pronounced dead at a nearby clinic, with the body now handed over to the family for burial. Clarke said the suspect remains in custody pending court proceedings.
Margibi County has also experienced violent incidents, Clarke said, recounting the armed robbery of Joshua Somah, a motorcyclist from Grand Bassa County, near Harbel on November 12. “Two passengers injected Mr. Somah with a substance that rendered him unconscious before stealing his motorbike,” Clarke reported. Authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend the attackers.
The LNP’s update further included the deaths of Emmanuel Junior and a man identified only as Williams in Grand Gedeh County after consuming narcotics on November 11. Clarke confirmed that Emmanuel died instantly, while Williams was pronounced dead at Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital. She added that suspects Jasper Brooks, Camp Master, Abraham Wehyee, and Pastor Ebenezer Pah Jr. remain under investigation.
In Nimba County, Clarke said Junior Sahn, age 40, has been arrested for allegedly shooting Harris David with a single-barrel gun on November 8 in Tappita City’s Power Station community. She emphasized that investigations into the incident are ongoing, signaling the LNP’s commitment to bringing perpetrators to justice.
Clarke used the broadcast to remind Liberians of public safety measures, urging citizens to drive carefully, obey traffic regulations, and report suspicious activities. She emphasized, “Always wear your seatbelt, obey speed limits and traffic signs, avoid phone use while driving, use pedestrian crossings, and don’t drink and drive.” Additionally, she advised communities to lock doors, walk in groups after dark, and teach children how to call for help in emergencies.
Highlighting economic fraud concerns, Clarke warned about the rise of QNET-related scams that falsely promise overseas travel, jobs, and quick wealth. She cautioned citizens to verify such offers with the Ministry of Labor, Immigration Service, or the LNP before committing to any deals. “We urge all Liberians to be vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly,” she said.
Concluding the broadcast, Clarke reiterated the importance of community engagement in crime prevention. “Let’s keep working together for a safer, stronger Liberia,” she said, inviting listeners to tune in every Friday at 8:30 a.m. on ELBC Radio 99.9 FM for further updates. The LNP’s weekly program underscores the agency’s commitment to transparency, public awareness, and the protection of lives and property across the country.
