LRA REJECTS ALLEGATIONS OF PRESIDENTIAL INTERFERENCE IN ITS OPERATIONS

MONROVIA – The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) categorically dismisses as false and misleading a social media report suggesting that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai instructed the LRA Commissioner General, James Dorbor Jallah, to “ground” a bus belonging to former First Lady Clar Marie Weah.

In a press release issued on Friday, September 5, 2025, the LRA clarified that at no time has the President interfered in the professional or statutory operations of the Authority.

The report is an imaginative fabrication with no iota of truth, designed to drag the LRA and its leadership into unnecessary political market noise.

Equally laughable and misleading is the claim that the LRA refused to accept payment from Madam Weah.

The Authority’s mandate is to collect every dime and cent due the Government of Liberia, with its own ambitious revenue mobilization target of one billion.

The suggestion that the LRA would reject legitimate duty payments demonstrates a clear lack of understanding of how the LRA operates.

The Authority remains focused on its mission of enhancing domestic resource mobilization to support national development.

The public is therefore advised to disregard such unfounded reports and rely only on official communications from the LRA.
