LRA SURPASSES 2024 REVENUE TARGET AS CG JALLAH EYES 2025 OBJECTIVES

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has surpassed expectations, achieving a remarkable milestone in the 2024 fiscal year by exceeding its annual domestic revenue target of USD $690 million.

LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah announced during a press conference held at the LRA headquarters in Paynesville that over USD $692 million has been collected, with an additional USD $10 million currently being reconciled, which would potentially increase the final figure significantly to over US$700 million.

“This achievement is a testament to the resilience, commitment, and collaboration of every stakeholder involved in the revenue mobilization process,” CG Jallah remarked, expressing immense pride and gratitude on behalf of the LRA Board of Directors, management, and staff. Liberia, in its existence, has never before reached such heights in domestic revenue collection.

Addressing a press conference at the LRA headquarters on Tuesday (Jan 14), the Commissioner General attributed this historic accomplishment to the collective efforts of key contributors.

He extended heartfelt thanks to the taxpayers of Liberia, whose compliance and commitment have been instrumental in achieving this milestone, emphasizing that their trust and partnership in building a stronger Liberia serve as daily inspiration.

He also commended the LRA’s dedicated workforce for their professionalism, innovation, and tireless efforts, noting their unyielding drive to surpass ambitious targets. Partner institutions and agencies were recognized for their collaboration in ensuring efficient and transparent revenue collection, while development partners and civil society organizations were acknowledged for their invaluable contributions in strengthening LRA’s systems and operations.

While celebrating the success of 2024, the LRA is already focused on the opportunities and challenges ahead. CG Jallah emphasized the need for sustained effort and innovation to further strengthen domestic revenue mobilization in 2025.

He highlighted the importance of encouraging taxpayers to fulfill their obligations through timely and accurate payments and stressed the necessity of upholding transparency and accountability in all aspects of revenue administration.

The LRA will intensify the use of digital tools to simplify processes and enhance efficiency, while strengthened partnerships with businesses, community leaders, and international organizations will remain critical to achieving even greater success.

“Our work is far from complete,” he stated. “Together, we can build a Liberia that is self-reliant, prosperous, and equipped to meet the needs of its citizens.”

CG Jallah concluded the press conference with a rallying call to all Liberians to continue their support in achieving even greater successes. He affirmed that exceeding the 2024 revenue target underscores the power of collective action and expressed hope that this milestone would inspire new records and groundbreaking achievements in 2025.
