MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY KILLING GIRLFRIEND OVER PALM WINE DISPUTE

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – A 43-year-old man, Francis Koiyan, has been charged with murder and aggravated assault following the death of his girlfriend, Hannah Karto, in a violent altercation over a palm wine container. The tragic incident took place in Zeors Town, Margibi County.

According to police reports, Karto had gone to the bush to buy palm wine when Koiyan, enraged over her refusal to give him the container, pursued her. Upon finding her in the bush, Koiyan allegedly attacked Karto, assaulting her with punches until she fell unconscious. The suspect is said to have then bound her hands behind her back with a lapper and placed her head in her underpants before leaving her in the bush.

The victim was later found unconscious and was believed to have died from the injuries sustained during the assault. Following the incident, Koiyan was arrested, and after a thorough investigation, he has been forwarded to the Monrovia City Court to face charges. He remains in custody at the Monrovia Central Prison while awaiting trial.
