MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Czar M. Palay, the Youth Chairperson of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), has been dismissed from his position at the Ministry of Labour following a termination notice issued on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The letter confirmed that Palay’s tenure as Director of the Health and Occupational Safety Division had come to an end, effective immediately. The communication, signed by Minister of Labour Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah, Sr., cited “administrative reasons” for the decision, though no specific details were provided.
The letter expressed regret over Palay’s dismissal and stated that his contract would not be extended. It read: “With the approval of the Honorable Minister of Labour, the Ministry of Labour regrets to inform you that your employment contract with the Ministry in your capacity as Director of Health and Occupational Safety Division will not be extended for administrative reasons. Should the need arise for your services in the future, we shall not hesitate to reach out to you.” The Ministry also thanked Palay for his contributions during his time in office and wished him success in his future endeavors.
As part of the formal process, Palay has been instructed to return all Ministry property to Acting Human Resource Director Mohfel G. Dekpah. Despite the administrative nature of the dismissal, questions about the specific reasons behind the decision remain unanswered, prompting speculation regarding the circumstances that led to his removal.
Palay, a prominent figure in the MDR, has not yet publicly commented on his dismissal, leaving much to be questioned about the situation.
The Ministry of Labour’s statement concluded with appreciation for Palay’s service, though the lack of detailed explanation has left many in the political community eager for further clarification. As of now, Palay has remained silent about the reasons for his dismissal, and it remains uncertain what his next steps will be.
