MONROVIA – A procurement contractor with the Ministry of Agriculture has been charged and detained in connection with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl in Vai Town, Monrovia. The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Sando S. Kromah, was taken into custody following an investigation by the Liberia National Police’s Women and Children Protection Section.
Police said the alleged incident occurred on September 24, 2025, at Kromah’s apartment, where the victim reported being assaulted. A subsequent medical examination reportedly confirmed evidence of abuse. Authorities classify the case as statutory rape under Liberia’s rape law, as the victim is a minor.
Kromah was brought before the Monrovia City Court on Wednesday, where he was officially charged and remanded to the Monrovia Central Prison pending trial. Prosecutors are preparing for indictment and trial, while police investigations continue.
The Liberia National Police has not released additional details regarding the ongoing investigation, but emphasized that cases of sexual abuse against minors are treated with urgency and seriousness. The arrest underscores the authorities’ commitment to protecting women and children from sexual violence in Monrovia.
