MONROVIA – The Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Government of the People’s Republic of China, is dispatching a 25-member delegation on a two-week education study tour to China beginning September 11, 2025.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday, September 10, the initiative highlights Liberia’s efforts to strengthen its education sector through international collaboration. The delegation is composed of teachers and master trainers from rural teacher training institutions, selected through what the Ministry described as a transparent, merit-based process. Nineteen members of the delegation will depart on September 11, while the remaining six are scheduled to leave on September 14.
The group will be led by Assistant Minister for Teacher Education, Hon. Clifford, and will focus on learning from China’s innovative teaching methodologies and education systems.
Speaking at a pre-departure briefing, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah described the program as a vital opportunity for Liberia’s teaching professionals. “This is an opportunity to learn, share, and return with practical ideas that will improve our classrooms,” she said. Dr. Jallah also expressed gratitude to the Government of China for its continued support to Liberia’s education sector and called on the delegates to represent the country with integrity and a spirit of learning.
Delegates in turn thanked the Ministry for the opportunity and pledged to pass on the knowledge and experiences gained during the tour to their colleagues and institutions upon their return.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to building a resilient and globally competitive education system through local reforms and international partnerships, stressing that initiatives like the China study tour are crucial in achieving that goal.
