MONROVIA, LIBERIA — On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Mulbah K. Morlu, Jr., the National Chairman of Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND) and former National Chairman of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), issued a rebuke of President Joseph Boakai’s administration, accusing it of focusing on inconsequential debates while the country deteriorates under its watch.
Morlu’s statement came as a direct response to attacks from the Boakai administration, which he claims has made him a target through media operatives rather than addressing the nation’s pressing concerns. He criticized the government for neglecting the widespread suffering of Liberians, arguing that instead of fixing the country’s broken systems, Boakai and his officials have chosen to engage in personal attacks against him.
The STAND chairman also expressed his frustration with the government’s lack of meaningful action, claiming that the people of Liberia are already mobilizing for change. According to Morlu, his message of accountability is resonating with the population, and no amount of deflection or social media propaganda will stop the growing demand for reform. He warned the president that the movement for change cannot be extinguished and that the government’s failure to listen will only intensify the call for justice.
Morlu further mocked the Boakai administration’s incompetence, particularly pointing to the government’s absence at President Trump’s inauguration. He questioned why no officials from the current administration made the trip to Washington, D.C., despite their claims of interest, humorously suggesting that financial constraints might be to blame, given the administration’s alleged mismanagement of resources.
In his closing remarks, Morlu reiterated his belief that Liberia is on the brink of significant transformation. He stressed that his movement is not just about political rhetoric but about confronting the corruption and failures of a regime that, in his view, has failed to deliver for the people. He declared that Liberia’s future is at a crossroads, and no amount of government attempts to suppress the demand for change will succeed.
“The winds of change are inevitable, and no force can stop them,” Morlu concluded. “The people are ready, and we will emerge victorious.”
