MONROVIA – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has confiscated KUSH valued at over one million Liberian dollars during a targeted operation in the West Point Township, officials confirmed on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The seizure followed a credible intelligence tip-off, leading the Agency’s Special Drug Squad to the location.
According to a press release signed by G. Orlando Demey, Chief of Public Relations for LDEA, preliminary investigations revealed that the narcotic substance was hidden in nine small mineral water bottles. Authorities believe the drugs are linked to 70-year-old suspect Mrs. Lucy S. Morris, who is currently undergoing investigation and processing. She will be forwarded to court for prosecution under the Amended Controlled Drugs and Substances Act of 2023.
The LDEA reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and curbing the distribution of illicit substances across Liberia. “We continue to intensify operations in all parts of the country to ensure that those involved in the illegal drug trade are brought to justice,” the Agency stated.
Officials also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious drug-related activities within their communities. They cautioned that traffickers are increasingly using motorcycles and tricycles, locally known as “kekehs,” to transport illicit substances in an effort to evade law enforcement.
“The Agency remains resolute in adapting countermeasures to intercept and dismantle evolving criminal strategies,” the LDEA press release emphasized, highlighting the continuous efforts to keep communities safe from the growing threat of drug trafficking.
