PLP YOUTH ASSEMBLY WANTS DR. CASSELL QUIT IN THE WAKE OF HIS CRIMINAL INDICTMENT

Date:

LIBERIA – The People’s Liberation Party (PLP) National Youth Assembly (NYA) chooses to enclose plenty of the Party’s internal issues and use the criminal indictment of Dr. Daniel E. Cassell as enough reason to demand his resignation/recusal as the Standard Bearer of our beloved party. We see it as unprofessional to have a criminal indictee leading such an integrity institution as the PLP.

Admittedly, since the inception of this saga, especially with Dr. Cassell’s legal indictment, the PLP has since lost her moral voice to address a wild range of ills in society. This has also intellectually limited and captive the young people of our Party at hubs of idea exchanges.

In line with the National Youth Assembly’s function of coordinating youthful activities and representing their best interests, and also thinking back to Dr. Cassell’s popular quote, “One set of rules for everyone”, the decision demanding his stepping aside is void of partiality and animosity rather, it’s for the greater good of our party.

Dr.Cassell as our founding Political Leader and first elected Standard Bearer of our party, he is encouraged to continue to lead by a good example and precedent. He must see it rational to step aside now as Liberians and the world are washing him to do so.

Additionally, the PLP-NYA stands with Dr. Daniel E. Cassell as he prepares to face charges of first-degree money laundering, second-degree theft by deception, and multiple counts of conspiracy, insurance fraud, tax evasion, and other charges.

We hope that Dr. Cassell will be vindicated through his days in court. The PLP-NYA believes that when Dr. Cassell is pronounced none guilty of those charges by the US Judiciary System, it will put him in a better position to defeat any contender for the Liberian Presidency.

Pending Dr. Cassell’s adjudication, the PLP-NYA professes his generosity. Indeed we believe in him to a greater extent. Nevertheless, we can’t prioritize the interest of an individual above the entire membership of our party as the PLP ranks above all of its members.

Therefore, Dr. Daniel E. Cassell must step aside now as he awaits his days in court to face Criminal Charges.
