MONROVIA – Incoming ruling Unity Party (UP) female militant member, Ms. Peaches Queen Johnson alias “Female General,” has been arrested by the Liberia National Police (LNP), Smart News Liberia has reliably learned.
The UP “Female General” popularly known as Queen Johnson, was picked up by officers of the LNP during the evening hours of Friday, 5 January 2024, while socializing with friends in central Monrovia, at the popular Red Lion entertainment center.
Her arrest is in connection to a bloody campaign-related violence that occurred in August 2023 between partisans and supporters of the two leading rival political parties, CDC and UP.
The violent clash left many others wounded and reportedly led to the death of a staunch member of the outgoing ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), 34-year-old Joshua Solomon.
On 4 December of last year, the LNP declared Queen Johnson and others to be identified as wanted in connection to Joshua’s death.
Queen Johnson and others to be identified are wanted for an ongoing criminal investigation regarding Joshua’s death, according to police spokesman Moses Carter.
Carter told reporters late last year that efforts exerted at the time to have Queen Johnson turn herself in at the LNP Headquarters on Capitol Hill, Monrovia for questioning regarding her alleged role in the campaign-related riot during the country’s 2023 elections, proved futile, as she could not be found.
He disclosed that the campaign-related violence in August 2023 resulted in an aggravated assault meted out against Joshua, leading to his death in December of the same year.
Smart News Liberia (SNL) is informed that the medical report announcing Joshua’s cause of death as internal bleeding or severe trauma has been challenged by executives of Queen Johnson’s party, the UP, as being reportedly forged by Francis Kolleh, a Physician Assistant, who is allegedly not a licensed Medical Doctor authorized to prepared death certificate.
Queen Johnson’s arrest, according to many Liberians, is yet another litmus test to the Liberian National Police and her ability to conduct an impartial investigation.
Many accused the LNP of playing the role of a partisan police whenever it involves matters bordering around the interests of the ruling CDC – hence, apprehensions are rife as to whether Queen Johnson, an avowed member of the UP would be served justice fairly during the police probe.
