PRES. BOAKAI RETURNS FROM IVORY COAST WITH ASSURANCES OF ASSISTANCE IN AGRICULTURE, ELECTRICITY AND SECURITY

Date:

MOMNROVIA, LIBERIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has returned home from his one-day state visit to neighboring Ivory Coast, where he held productive discussions with his Ivorian counterpart. Upon his arrival at the Roberts International Airport in Margibi County, President Boakai expressed his gratitude for the willingness of Ivory Coast to assist Liberia in various key areas.

One of the areas highlighted by President Boakai is electricity. Ivory Coast has agreed to expand its grid to Liberia, which will increase the electricity supply in the country and benefit the general population. This commitment comes at a crucial time when Liberia is facing unstable and challenging electricity issues.

In terms of security, both countries recognize the importance of addressing the security challenges in the sub region.

As a result, a joint commission has been established to gradually address these issues and ensure the safety and stability of both nations.

President Boakai also emphasized the significance of agriculture in Liberia’s development. He noted that Liberia will learn from Ivory Coast’s success as the 4th most food-sufficient country in the sub region to strengthen its own agricultural sector. This collaboration will contribute to the overall food security and economic growth of Liberia.

Expressing his appreciation for Ivory Coast’s commitment to supporting Liberia, President Boakai pledged to work closely with his Ivorian counterpart to further strengthen the already strong ties between the two countries. During his trip, President Boakai also had the opportunity to meet with the Liberian community in Ivory Coast, where he was warmly received.

The visit to Ivory Coast marks a significant step in enhancing cooperation between Liberia and its neighboring country. President Boakai’s return home signals a renewed commitment to advancing Liberia’s development agenda with the support of regional partners.
