MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has officially proclaimed Friday, April 11, 2025, as National Fast and Prayer Day, designating it as a national holiday for all Liberians. The day is meant for collective reflection, prayer, fasting, and meditation, calling on the nation to unite in hopes of achieving greater success for Liberia and its people.
This proclamation aligns with a law passed by the National Legislature in 1883, which established the second Friday of April each year as a day for national fasting and prayer. The law was intended to seek divine guidance, protection, and peace for the country.
As part of the observance, the proclamation instructs the closure of all public offices, businesses, and marketplaces. Citizens and foreign residents alike are encouraged to pause their regular activities in honor of the day, as a gesture of gratitude and a plea for divine assistance in the country’s progress and prosperity.
