PRESIDENT BOAKAI DISMISSES NPHIL LEADERSHIP, APPOINTS INTERIM DIRECTOR GENERAL

MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has dismissed Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan and Dr. Adams K. Lincoln from their positions as Director General and Deputy Director of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), respectively.

According to an Executive Mansion press release issued on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the President has appointed Dr. Sia Wata Camanor as Interim Director General to ensure operational continuity at the institution.

The decision marks a significant leadership shift at NPHIL, which plays a critical role in coordinating public health responses across the country. The press release stated, “The President has made these changes to strengthen the operational effectiveness of NPHIL and to ensure that the institution continues to deliver on its core mandate.”

In addition to the changes at NPHIL, President Boakai made several new appointments in other government institutions. At the Ministry of Justice, Atty. Teklo Maxwell Grigsby II, Mr. Varney Ali Sheriff, and Dr. Stephen D. Paye were named to key positions. At the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. Amos T. F. Kemeyah was appointed as County Relieving Commissioner for Lofa.

The Executive Mansion noted that the appointments are part of the President’s ongoing efforts to “restructure and strengthen public institutions to enhance service delivery and good governance.”
