MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes to Liberian Muslims and the global Islamic community on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, also known as Abraham Day, celebrated on Friday, June 6, 2025. In a formal message, President Boakai offered warm salutations, saying As-salāmu ʿalaykum, and emphasized the importance of this sacred occasion in the Islamic calendar.
Eid al-Adha marks the Feast of Sacrifice, honoring the devotion and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham, peace be upon him), whose willingness to sacrifice in submission to the will of Almighty Allah remains a powerful symbol of faith. The president recognized the annual observance as a time of solemn prayer, sacrifice, and spiritual reflection for Muslims in Liberia and around the world.
President Boakai acknowledged the significance of the Hajj pilgrimage, which coincides with the Eid celebration during the holy month of Dhu al-Hijjah. He offered prayers for Liberian Muslims undertaking the sacred journey to Mecca, wishing them safety, divine guidance, and a spiritually enriching experience.
In his message, the president called upon all Liberians, regardless of religious background, to uphold the values of unity, peace, and national solidarity. He underscored that Liberia’s strength lies in its collective faith in God’s mercy and guidance, which has historically served as a foundation for the country’s resilience and progress.
He urged citizens to embrace a renewed spirit of national purpose by echoing his vision to Pray Liberia, Think Liberia, Love Liberia, and Build Liberia, a message he has consistently championed as part of his leadership philosophy.
President Boakai concluded his message by invoking divine blessings upon the nation and extending warm Eid greetings to all. “May the blessings of Eid al-Adha inspire compassion, solidarity, and unwavering faith in our shared future,” he stated.
