PRINCE JOHNSON’S WIDOW THROWS SUPPORT BEHIND KOGAR FOR SENATE

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Madam Arhifa Boyidee, widow of the late Nimba County Senator Prince Yormie Johnson, has formally endorsed Representative Samuel Kogar as the preferred candidate to fill the Senate seat left vacant by her husband’s passing. Her announcement reinforces Kogar’s standing in the upcoming by-election, positioning him as the rightful heir to Johnson’s political influence in Nimba.

Madam Boyidee explained that her decision followed extensive consultations with family members, close associates, and key figures within the Johnson family. She emphasized that her endorsement was not just a political move but one deeply rooted in family tradition and the values her late husband upheld. She described Kogar as a capable leader who understands the needs of Nimba and has the experience to represent the county effectively.

With speculation mounting over her potential candidacy, Madam Boyidee firmly dismissed any intention of contesting the Senate seat. She clarified that her role is to support the continuity of her husband’s work rather than enter the political arena herself. She urged the people of Nimba to rally behind Kogar, expressing confidence in his ability to champion the county’s interests.

She also used the occasion to extend her gratitude to Liberians, especially the people of Nimba, for the overwhelming support during Senator Johnson’s funeral on January 18, 2025. She acknowledged the unity and solidarity demonstrated by the county’s citizens in honoring her husband’s legacy, calling it a testament to his lasting impact on Liberian politics.

As the National Elections Commission moves toward announcing the official date for the by-election, Madam Boyidee called for a peaceful and transparent electoral process. She reiterated her unwavering support for Kogar, urging Nimba voters to back a candidate she believes will uphold the late senator’s vision for the county.
