SAD DEVELOPMENT: INTERNET DISRUPTION EXPECTED IN LIBERIA TOMORROW

Date:

MONROVIA – In a concerning turn of events, Liberia is set to experience a significant disruption in internet services on May 31, 2024. This interruption, scheduled to last for 10 hours, is due to essential repair work on the ACE Submarine Cable Network. Specifically, Segment 2.1, which connects Dakar and Abidjan, will undergo maintenance from 00:01 UTC to 10:00 UTC.

The ACE (Africa Coast to Europe) Submarine Cable Network is a crucial infrastructure component that provides internet connectivity to multiple regions in West Africa, including Monrovia, Abidjan, Freetown, Conakry, and Banjul. The planned repair work will inevitably affect internet traffic to Europe, causing widespread disruption across these areas.

The Cable Consortium of Liberia (CCL) has acknowledged the upcoming inconvenience and assures that their business office and technical staff will be on standby to address any concerns and provide support during the repair period. Despite their readiness, users should brace for connectivity issues throughout the day.

This development highlights the vulnerabilities of essential communication networks and the far-reaching impacts of such disruptions on daily life and business operations. All affected parties are advised to plan accordingly and stay informed about the progress of the repair work.
