MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Liberian Senate has confirmed Hon. Henry F. Saamoi as Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia, granting him full authority to steer the country’s monetary policies. Lawmakers also approved Hon. James B. Wilfred as Deputy Governor, solidifying the bank’s leadership amid efforts to stabilize the economy.
During the confirmation session on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the Senate recorded 21 votes in favor, with no opposing or abstaining votes, underscoring strong legislative backing for the appointments. The confirmations mark a crucial step in strengthening the financial sector as the government focuses on economic reforms.
In addition to the Central Bank officials, the Senate also confirmed several key diplomatic appointments. Ali El-haji Souleymane Oldman Sylla was approved as Liberia’s Ambassador to Senegal, while Levi Demann secured confirmation as Ambassador to Belgium. Brahima Kaba received Senate approval to represent Liberia in Kuwait, and Forkpa Gizzie was confirmed as Ambassador to Guinea.
