“TIMOTHY WEAH’S GOAL PROMOTES LIBERIA ALSO” – SAYS BISHOP BROWN

Date:

As he prays for the success of the USA team

MONTSERRADO COUNTY – Following the scoring of the first and only goal for the United States in their opening match with Wales in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, Bishop Kortu K. Brown has said that the achievement of Timothy Weah also promotes Liberia the country of his ancestry. Speaking to a group of young Liberians the day after the game on the Campus of New Water in the Desert Assembly APC in Brewerville, Montserrado County, the prelate encouraged all Liberians especially the young people to celebrate the accomplishment of the World Cup because as he put it, “Timothy Weah’s goal also promotes Liberia, not just the United States because his father is a Liberian”

Rev. Dr. Kortu K. Brown Church Pastor, New Water in the desert Assembly Bishop, Apostolic Pentecostal Church International

The much-talked-about game in Liberia was played on Monday, November 21 in Qatar between the United States and Wales. Timothy Weah, the son of Liberia’s President, George M. Weah is playing on the team of the United States in the World Cup. Bishop Brown, the former president of the Liberia Council of Churches believes that Timothy has made history for his family, Liberia and United States because every time his name is called for that goal and playing on the USA team, his family name will be invoked and Liberia’s name will be mentioned.

“Congratulations to Tim Weah and his family – and by extension the team of United States. You have made all peoples of Liberian descent, proud, Timothy” the outspoken cleric said. “This is not about politics”, he said. “It is about love for country. Every Liberian should be proud that a person of Liberian ancestry can aspire so high and bring much proud to the land of the birth of his father including Africa”.

Bishop Brown, who also leads the Apostolic Pentecostal Church used the impromptu occasion to also pray for the success of the World Cup and all the teams that have representatives of people of Liberian descent.
