The Embassy confirmed that the validity period for B-1 (Business), B-2 (Tourism), and B1/B2 combination visas has been extended from 12 months to 36 months, with multiple entries permitted for eligible applicants.
According to the Embassy, the reciprocity fee for these visa categories remains at US $0, while applicants are required to pay the standard nonimmigrant visa application processing fee (MRV fee) of US $185 at the time of application. The update applies solely to the visa validity period, the timeframe during which a visa may be used to travel to the United States, and does not determine the length of stay, which continues to be set by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry.
Applicants seeking the updated visas can complete the online application (DS-160) and schedule their appointments at www.usvisaappt.com/visa/. The Embassy emphasized that the policy is designed to make travel to the United States more accessible and convenient for Liberians, particularly for business and tourism purposes.
The announcement follows the U.S. Department of State’s recent decision to extend the validity of Liberian nonimmigrant visas, marking a milestone in Liberia-U.S. relations. Under the revised policy, qualified applicants will receive multiple-entry visas valid for three years, significantly reducing the need for frequent renewals and related trips to the Embassy.
While the visa validity period has been extended, each entry into the United States will still be subject to inspection, and U.S. authorities retain the discretion to determine the duration of stay during each visit. Travelers are urged to comply fully with immigration regulations to avoid complications.
Officials highlighted that the extension aligns with broader efforts to promote educational, business, and cultural exchanges between Liberia and the United States.
