UP CHAIRMAN URGES VP KOUNG’S INTERVENTION IN MOTORCYCLISTS DISPUTE

Date:

MONROVIA – Luther Tarpeh, Chairman of Liberia’s ruling Unity Party, has made a passionate appeal to Vice President Jeremiah Koung, urging him to intervene in the escalating dispute between the Liberia National Police and motorcyclists across the country.

In a letter addressed to VP Koung, Chairman Tarpeh urged the government to reconsider its decision to ban motorcyclists and keh-keh riders from Liberia’s main roads. This request comes in the wake of widespread protests by hundreds of motorcyclists against the impending ban, scheduled to take effect on May 15, 2024.

While acknowledging the government’s intention to enhance safety and orderliness in Monrovia, Chairman Tarpeh expressed concerns about the timing of the directive. He cautioned that the ban might be perceived as ingratitude towards the youth who strongly supported President Joseph Boakai’s electoral campaign in 2023.
