Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield, the United States’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, today paid a courtesy visit to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, during the US-Africa Business Summit in Dallas, Texas.
According to an Executive Mansion press release, during their meeting, Ambassador Greenfield commended President Boakai for his efforts to tackle corruption and impunity in Liberia. She acknowledged the President’s initiatives, such as auditing critical government institutions like the Ministry of State and issuing Executive Order #131 to establish the Office of War and Economic Crimes Court.
Expressing concern for Liberia’s current challenges, Ambassador Greenfield highlighted the importance of strengthening democratic institutions, improving the rule of law, and reducing corruption. She assured President Boakai of continued US support in areas of mutual interest.
President Boakai thanked Ambassador Greenfield for her visit and reiterated his commitment to fighting corruption, strengthening institutions, enhancing the rule of law, and building on the country’s successes. He emphasized the priorities of his government, particularly those outlined in his Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism (ARREST) Agenda, aimed at ensuring sustainable development in Liberia.
