A local Sand Mining Company operating in the Taylor Mayor Community in the Township of Caldwell, Montserrado County has embarked on the construction of a modern Town hall for the citizens of the affected community in the area.
Speaking to this paper and other Media Outlets in the Township, the Administrative Manager of the Company, Madam Alice K. Mulbah Reid, said the HYDE Investment Sand Mining company which is predominated by Liberian citizens was concerned about the difficulties the citizens go through in hosting community meetings, graduation programs among others.
According to Madam Reid, prior to embarking on the construction of the Town-hall, the HYDE Investment Sand Mining Company which has been operating in the Township since the 2019 has been responding to the cries and demands of the citizens through the constructions of Hand pumps and latrines aimed at providing proper sanitation to the citizens and ensuring safe drinking water in the affected community.
“We are willing to work with the Government of Liberia in improving the lives of our people and ensure that they benefit from their minerals”, the Administrative Manager of the HYDE Sand Mining told group of Journalists on Saturday, April 13, 2024 following the Inauguration of the new Leadership of the Taylor Mayor Community.
According to her, the Sand Mining Industry of the Country is critical to ensuring the provision of jobs to the young people of the Country as such, the government should ensure that royalties received from these companies are properly invested to impact the affected communities through the constructions of developmental projects to directly benefit the citizens and their children.
The HYDE Investment Sand Mining Company Administrative Manager also called on the citizens to continue to support the works of the Company by supporting its initiatives and ensure that Sand Mining Companies operating in the area do not only extract the mineral but to ensure that proceeds accrued are used to transform the livelihoods of citizens of the community.
The HYDE Investment Sand Mining Company Administrative Manager, Alice K. Mulbah Reid is also commending the Liberian government through the leadership of President Joseph Nyuma- Boakai, Sr. for the immense investment in the fight against the importation and intake of illicit drugs by young people while appealing to young people to denounce violence and seek education, and do away with the consumption of these harmful substances that will derail their future.
Meanwhile, Alice K. Mulbah Reid is recommending that the government of Liberia through the Ministry of Mines and Energy reinforces the monitoring of Sand Mining Companies around the Country to ensure that Foreign National do not take over jobs intended for Liberians adding that, once Liberians are empowered, they will be able to transform and better their livelihood.
