LIBERIA NATIONAL POLICE ARREST FORMER EPS AGENTS FOR ILLEGAL PROTEST AND INVESTIGATE OFFICERS FOR HOMICIDE

Date:

MONROVIA – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has arrested seven individuals, believed to be former Executive Protection Service (EPS) Agents, for their involvement in an illegal protest, setting up roadblocks, and making terroristic threats.

On Thursday morning, these individuals, claiming to be dismissed EPS Agents, disrupted the area around Voice of Liberia Radio station (104.1 FM) with protests demanding their reinstatements, obstructing movement for residents and businesses.

In a press release issued today, the LNP identified the arrested individuals as J. Frank Hope, 43; Nathaniel S. Toe, 43; Andy P. Yeancy, 47; Samuel Reeves, 44; Anthony Mccrowrey, 39; James Kelly, 32; and Augustine Glealeh, 29. They are currently detained at the LNP Headquarters pending investigation.

In a separate incident, the LNP has suspended four of its officers pending investigation by the Professional Standards Division (PSD) following their alleged involvement in a homicide in 72nd community, Paynesville, on April 17, 2024.

This action was taken in response to claims from family sources that the arresting officers used excessive force on Austin Yarkpawolo, the deceased uncle of suspect James Boima, leading to his death.

The LNP’s investigation aims to determine the circumstances of the victim’s death and take appropriate actions as needed.

The public is urged to remain calm, with assurance that justice will prevail.
