SENATOR AMARA KONNEH ADVOCATES FOR AFFORDABLE ELECTRICITY TO BOOST LIBERIAN ECONOMY

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Senator Amara Konneh of Gbarpolu County has reignited the push for cheap and affordable electricity to fuel Liberia’s economic growth. In a recent session at the Senate, Senator Konneh emphasized the importance of addressing the country’s energy challenges as a means to expand the Liberian economy.

The Senate, under the leadership of the Pro Tempore, allowed a comprehensive debate focusing on the electricity sector, particularly highlighting the roles of the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) and the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC). The discussion on the Senate floor was charged with determination to tackle Liberia’s longstanding energy crisis.

Senator Konneh stressed that affordable and stable electricity is pivotal to addressing the country’s high unemployment rates. He believes that by ensuring cheap and stable electricity, Liberia can create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, thereby generating employment opportunities for its citizens.

Expressing optimism about the progress made during the Senate session, Senator Konneh remarked, “Today was a better day!” His renewed commitment to finding a compromise on the electricity issue signals a positive step towards resolving one of Liberia’s major economic challenges.
