PRESIDENT BOAKAI SUSPENDS GOVERNANCE COMMISSION OFFICIALS, ESTABLISHES INVESTIGATIVE COMMITTEE

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has taken swift action by suspending Mr. Garrison Yealue, Chairperson, and Madam Elizabeth Dorkin, Commissioner of the Governance Commission, with immediate effect, citing activities inconsistent with the institution’s founding Act.

In a press release issued today and signed by Kula Bonah Nyei Fofana, President Boakai’s Press Secretary, it was stated that the President has also instituted a committee to investigate the matter thoroughly. This move underscores President Boakai’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.

The suspended officials have been urged to fully cooperate with the investigative team, aligning with President Boakai’s dedication to fairness, accountability, and justice.

This decisive action by the President demonstrates his unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that public officials adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct.

In a related development, the release mentioned that President Boakai has appointed Mr. Ambullah L. Kamara, Mrs. Angela Cassell Bush, Mr. Clarence K. Massaquoi, Mr. Ben A. Fofana, and Mr. Patrick Honnah as Acting Chairperson and Acting Commissioners, respectively. These appointments aim to ensure continuity and stability within the Governance Commission until the conclusion of the General Auditing Commission’s audit.

President Boakai expressed hope that these measures would deter others from engaging in activities inconsistent with their duties and obligations, thus promoting integrity and accountability within the public sector.
