KRTTI ADMINISTERS FIRST PLACEMENT TEST FOR “B” CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IN MARYLAND COUNTY

Date:

By Aaron B. Nemah

MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA – For the first time, the Kakata Rural Teacher Training Institute (KRTTI) has administered a placement test for its “B” Certificate program in Pleebo, Maryland County. This placement exercise included participants from three counties: River Gee, Grand Kru, and Maryland.

Highlighting the importance of the event, Mr. David G. Jehpaklen stated over the weekend that the primary objective of the “B” Certificate program is to recruit in-service and pre-service teachers for professional training at KRTTI. He emphasized that the government, under President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, has allocated USD 4 million to place teachers on the government payroll.

“It’s from this backdrop that the Kakata Rural Teacher Training Institute is administering placement tests in all fifteen counties of Liberia for in-service and pre-service teachers to take advantage of this opportunity,” he stated.

Mr. Jehpaklen, the registrar, added that the institution is prepared to receive over a thousand “B” Certificate candidates, noting that basic necessities such as food, housing, and a clinic are available for candidates. He pointed out that the institution will offer four courses: Mathematics, Language Arts, Social Science, and Natural Science. He also mentioned that the training will last for four years.

The County Education Officer and Madam Salomie Goe, DEO of the Pleebo Sodoken District School System, commended the administration of KRTTI and President Boakai for such a vibrant initiative. They stressed that this effort will help to improve Liberia’s educational system by providing qualified classroom teachers in various disciplines. They urged the Ministry of Education and the President to continue empowering more youths to become professional classroom teachers, which is essential for effective and standard learning in the country.

Citizens from Grand Kru, River Gee, and Maryland Counties also lauded the faculties of KRTTI and President Boakai for prioritizing education in his administration. They embraced the placement test and are hopeful for positive results.
