A total of 1,563 Liberians are among those slated for deportation following a recent Executive Order by the President of the United States to expel illegal immigrants. This decision is part of a broader initiative targeting 1,445,549 undocumented individuals across the globe.
According to data from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Liberia is one of several countries listed for mass deportation, alongside nations such as Guinea, Ivory Coast, and Morocco. The order underscores the U.S. government’s intensified efforts to enforce immigration laws and address the growing number of undocumented migrants within its borders.
The news has sparked concern among Liberians, as many of those affected have resided in the United States for years, building families and livelihoods.
The Executive Order has also drawn criticism from human rights organizations, which argue that the policy lacks consideration for the personal circumstances of individuals, including those who have fled violence or economic hardship in their home countries.
