BOAKAI EYES PORT REFORMS, TASKING NPA BOSS DUKULY WITH OVERHAUL

Date:

MONROVIA – President Joseph Boakai has set his sights on a major overhaul of Liberia’s ports, placing National Port Authority (NPA) Managing Director Sekou Hussein Dukuly at the center of efforts to modernize and streamline operations.

During a high-level meeting with the NPA’s leadership on Monday, March 24, 2025, Boakai made it clear that reforming the nation’s maritime sector is a priority. His administration is pushing for a comprehensive review of existing contracts, expansion of port infrastructure, and the elimination of inefficiencies that have long hampered trade and logistics.

Dukuly, widely regarded as “The Negotiator” for his strategic approach to deal-making, has been tasked with leading these reforms. His leadership will be instrumental in renegotiating agreements, attracting investment, and ensuring that Liberia’s ports become more competitive within the region.

With global trade dynamics shifting and neighboring countries investing heavily in port infrastructure, Boakai’s move signals a renewed commitment to positioning Liberia as a key player in maritime commerce. As discussions on contract reviews and expansion plans take shape, all eyes are now on Dukuly and the NPA’s ability to deliver on the president’s vision.
