THOMAS BUNDOO SELECTED FOR PRESTIGIOUS U.S. COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS PROGRAM

MONROVIA – Thomas Tamba Bundoo, a Master of Arts student in International Relations at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida School of International Studies at the University of Liberia (UL), has been named a finalist for the highly competitive Community Solutions Program by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State.

Out of more than 12,600 applicants from 102 countries, Bundoo was selected as one of 65 participants for the 2025–2026 fellowship, a program designed to bring together emerging community leaders worldwide for an intensive three-month leadership development experience. The program aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to implement meaningful change in their home communities.

Prior to his departure, Bundoo held a courtesy meeting with University President Dr. Layli Marpayan, whom he credited for her instrumental support throughout his journey. “When I paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Marpayan in May and informed her about my selection for the U.S. Government’s prestigious International Fellowship (Community Solutions Program), she was so excited. From that moment onwards, she became very concerned and supportive in every aspect of this journey. I’m so grateful to have crossed paths with Dr. Marpayan. She is not just a President for me, but a very supportive and dedicated mentor,” Bundoo said.

Bundoo, who earned his Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration in 2022 and served as President of the Public Administration Department’s graduating class, subsequently enrolled in the Master’s program at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida School of International Studies at UL. His selection for the Community Solutions Program marks a significant achievement in his academic and professional journey, reflecting both his leadership potential and commitment to community service.

The Community Solutions Program will provide Bundoo with hands-on training, networking opportunities, and mentorship to enable him to implement practical solutions to social and community challenges upon his return to Liberia.
