LIBERIA – A Liberian journalist and Citizen of Grand Bassa County, William U.B. Lloyd, has described Bassa politicians as disloyal braggarts, whose intentions, according to him, are to betray the people with fake promises.
During a special meet-up on Sunday with other citizens from Grand Bassa County, at Farmington Hotel, in Magibi County, Mr. Lloyd expressed sadness over the political outlook of the county and recommended future actions by the young people.
According to Mr. Lloyd, the political promises during elections can be very encouraging that anyone could fall prey to.
“Our politicians’ campaign messages can be very promising, that anyone can fall prey to,” he averred.
William Lloyd, who was branded by his fellow Bassa citizens as county-loyalist, suggested that the young people of the county establish a movement that would be a guarantor between politicians and citizens of the county. According to him, this movement will take a holistic approach to end aspiring opportunists in the County.
The Liberian journalist, however, reminded Bassa citizens that the initiative can not be realized if they do not galvanize themselves in unity, stating that they are the solutions to their problems.
“We shouldn’t allow anyone to deceive us, we are the solutions to our problems; but we can only solve our problems when we are United”, he stated.
Mr. Lloyd also frowned on the social well-being of citizens of the county. He said it is shameful for a County that receives US $1 million each year from Arcelor-Mittal as the Corporate Social Reasonability fund, coupled with other domestic revenues, cannot boast of ten(10) international scholarships.
William Lloyd also cautioned the people of Grand Bassa County to be vigilant of disloyal braggarts in the upcoming 2023 general elections. He further stated that their promises would not be the actual intention of the county.
