LIBERIA – While the Liberian Government is investigating the attack on the home of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu-Scott, which led to the murder of her daughter, former Liberia Truth and Reconciliation chairman, Cllr. Jerome Verdier has released bombshell information linking the Government of President George Weah to the crime.
Cllr. Verdier who’s seeking asylum in the United States, told an online TV program-SpoonTalk last evening that one Varlee Terleh, said to be the Deputy Monrovia City Police boss for Operations, is the one who allegedly carried out the onslaught against the former Chief Justice and her family during a night raid on her home on the outskirt of Monrovia.
The former Liberian TRC boss disclosed that Varlee Telleh allegedly operates a death squad in Monrovia and insinuated that he carried out the attack allegedly on the orders of Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee.
The startling revelation made by the former TRC Chairman sent shock waves to many Liberians at a time there is a trend of mysterious killings in the country.
Cllr. Jerome J. Verdier Sr alleged Varlee Telleh is the right-hand man of Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee.
Cllr. Verdier alleged Varlee Terleh, on the night of the attack, entered the home of the former Chief Justice without a top, only wearing a pair of short trousers.
He claimed that the accused was allegedly ordered by the City Mayor to kill Madam Musu-Scott, but must first sodomize her.
He alleged that Musu-Scott who was also a former Senator, former Justice Minister, and former Chairperson of the Constitutional Review Committee, escaped the wrath of the attacker because she had a pepper spray that she used on him.
Cllr. Verdier narrated that the two girls who happened to be the daughters of the Justice who came to rescue her were stabbed multiple times, leading to the death of one and seriously injuring the other.
When quizzed as to how he got the information on this incident, he said his organization has people on the ground in Liberia-that include the various security agencies and other government institutions.
Cllr. Jerome J. Verdier disclosed that the attacker of Cllr. Gloria Musu-Scott and her daughters are no other than Varlee Telleh, a former ULIMO-J and NPFL rebel.
Vardier said the TRC Report indicted Terleh for murder, rape, and arson; and questioned the motives of the Liberian Government hiring him to the Monrovia City Corporation.
Cllr. Verdier also stated that the Liberian Police delayed responding to SOS calls from the neighbors on the evening of the attack, because the Police were allegedly told to stand down because the raid on the former Justice’s home was a government operation.
Meanwhile, a man claiming to be a Liberian Journalist has complained that Telrleh has threatened his life for publishing the narrative of former TRC chairman Verdier.
Ayoub Dukuly claimed that he flagged Cllr. Verdier’s allegation against Terleh on his Facebook page and minutes later, the accused replied to his Facebook post with a message of his own; that threatened to harm him if he did stay away from the case. See the screenshot of the post.
Monrovia City Mayor Koijee has trashed the allegations against him by Cllr. Verdier. He said the allegation is untrue and called on the International community to intervene and stop the onslaught of the former TRC chairman against him and the Government.
Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie when contacted declined to comment, adding that the Monrovia City Mayor was holding a press conference on the issue and that would be the Liberian Government’s official position on the Verdier allegations.
Varlee Terleh could not be reached for comment up to press time.
