MONROVIA – Mulbah K. Morlu, the national chairman of the former ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), has resigned from his position to prioritize his role in civil society initiatives. In a resignation letter dated June 17, 2024, Morlu announced his new appointment as Chairman and Lead Advocate of the Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND).
STAND is a diverse, non-political civil society and advocacy organization dedicated to eradicating impunity in Liberia. Morlu emphasized that the organization is committed to operating without allegiance to any political ideology or party. “Our overarching mission is to carve a new path for Liberia, free from the burdens of injustice, corruption, poverty, and hunger in the land endowed with abundant natural resources,” he wrote.
Morlu stated that his new role requires his full dedication to these noble causes and demands that he upholds the highest ethical standards to ensure impartiality, morality, and nonpartisanship in their actions. Consequently, he has tendered his resignation from the CDC effective immediately.
Expressing gratitude, Morlu acknowledged the unwavering support of the National Executive Committee and the esteemed members of the CDC during his tenure. “I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to the National Executive Committee, and particularly to the esteemed members of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), for their unwavering support over the years while I diligently served in various capacities, including National Chairman,” he stated.
In his parting message, Morlu extended an open invitation to his supporters, well-wishers, and the larger society to join him in his civil society initiatives. He called on everyone to work together towards creating a brighter future for Liberia.
