CDC FORMER STALWART SAYS 2023 IS TIME FOR JNB TO BE LIBERIA’S PRESIDENT

Date:

By Olando Testimony Zeongar

LIBERIA – Barely ten months away from the conduct of general and presidential elections in Liberia, the ruling CDC’s former National Treasurer, Madam Cecelia K. Kpor, has declared that the Standard Bearer of the main opposition Unity Party (UP), former VP Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai (JNB), is the man best suited to be Liberia’s next president.

Madam Kpor made the assertion recently, when she paid JNB a courtesy call, at his Rehab Community, Paynesville office, where the pair discussed issues of national concern, especially regarding the 2023 elections.

“I believe with all my heart, Joseph Nyuma Boakai is the right president at this time.” said Madam Kpor in response to journalists’ inquiry, minutes following her meeting with the Unity Party Standard Bearer.

She added that “there is time for everything”, in apparent reference to her earlier assertion that now is the time for JNB to ascend the presidency of Liberia.

The former CDC National Treasurer who told reporters that she had to wake up as early as 5 AM to beat the Duala traffic in western Liberia, to be in time for the meeting with UP’s Boakai, stated that she’s aware there will be backlashes at her for her assertion about JNB being Liberia’s next president, but stated that she was not perturbed by what anyone would say concerning this, adding that she stands by her word because she’s doing this in the interest of the country.

“There will be criticisms, I’m ready to take the criticisms, there will be even opponents who will want to twist things but I stand by whatever I say, because if you don’t stand for anything, guess what, you will fall for everything,” said Madam Kpor, who is an aspirant for legislative seat in Montserrado County electoral District #17.

Asked whether when the ruling party calls on her to return and beef up President Weah’s campaign for his reelection bid, Madam Kpor stated that it was politically over between she and the CDC.
“I’m done – since 2017 we are in 2023, I will still be on the CDC business? I’m not here to discuss the CDC. I’m done with them, okay, I’m done.” she emphasized.

“There is no way they can call me back,” she added, disclosing that the CDC in time past, has offered her money to return but she declined.

Madam Kpor: “They offered me millions. I’m not that type. I don’t need much to survive… What they will call me for, to say what?

I am here to focus on Liberia and what will be best for our country, and how Honorable Nyuma Boakai can carry this country forward. As an older man with wisdom and leadership skills.”

She also disclosed that during her meeting with the UP Standard Bearer, they discussed about choosing his vice presidential running mate in time, as according to her, time was ticking away and there was mounting anxiety among members of the public as to when JNB would named the second in command on the Unity Party’s ticket for the 2023 presidential election..

She revealed that in the meeting, she vowed to delivered to JNB and the Unity Party, Montserrado electoral District #17, whose constituents she she claims to have good relations with by an estimated percentage of 82 percent.
