CDC OFFICIALS REPORTEDLY TARGETED IN SUSPECTED ARSON ATTACKS, CLAIMS ALVIN WESSEH

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Alvin Wesseh, a prominent member of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), has accused the ruling Unity Party (UP) of targeting CDC officials through fire attacks. Wesseh specifically highlighted two recent incidents as examples of this alleged political vendetta: the fires that destroyed Senator Saah Joseph’s home and House Speaker Fonati Koffa’s residence.

Wesseh claimed that they have received intelligence suggesting that members of the UP are responsible for these incidents. He further asserted that the CDC is a well-organized political party and not involved in any illegal activities, implying that appropriate action will be taken against the UP for their alleged actions. However, he did not provide any evidence to substantiate his claims.

Aside from the fire attacks, Wesseh also expressed concern about meetings between the CDC and civil servants, during which plans were discussed to remove 40,000 individuals from the government’s payroll. He warned that any attempt to forcefully remove people from their private properties would be met with resistance from the public. Wesseh further claimed that such actions could lead to widespread protests, potentially jeopardizing the current government’s stability.

Wesseh additionally accused AB Kromah, a former ULIMO official, of recruiting thugs and employing them within the Drug Enforcement Agency. He stated that “we will fight this.” Kromah, who now heads the Drug Enforcement Agency, allegedly recruits former ULIMO fighters. Wesseh concluded by asserting that the Boakai regime will face opposition.

It is crucial to note that these allegations made by Alvin Wesseh are serious. However, their validity remains uncertain due to the lack of evidence provided to support his claims.
