CHARLES GULL ALLEGES BILL TWEHWAY STOLE $1.5 MILLION FROM BUCHANAN PORT ACCOUNT

Date:

LIBERIA – Corrupt-suspended Buchanan Port Manager, Charles MacArthur Gull, who alleged to have stolen over US$200,000, and fled the country under the watchful eyes of state security has released sterling revelations saying that amount that was stolen from the port’s account was not US$200,000 but rather US$1.5 Million, which he [Charles Gull] links the Managing Director of the National Port Authority (NPA), Mr. Bill Tweahway of been the main culprit.

In a short dispatch from the United States, Mr. Gull indicated that the NPA Managing Director personally withdrew the US$1.5 Million under the title ‘Special Order’ and made away with the money without any written communication from the Port of Buchanan account department.

Mr. Gull’s dispatch further disclosed that his secret departure from the country was due to several threats received from his former boss, backed with some criminal gangs who have allegedly threatened him that if he made any attempt to expose MD Tweahway in his testimony to the LACC his life will be shortened by all means. He, however, promised to release additional information about those called big hands.

Immediately following his escape from the country Gull threatened to publicly expose, those he called “Big hands” in Weah’s CDC-led administration who are involved in the alleged corruption allegation linking him and his deputy.

It is widely reported on social media that Mr. Gull has escaped the country following a mandate from the court that state security should prevent him and others who have been accused of alleged corruption from leaving the country pending the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission investigation.

Bill Twehway, NPA Managing Director also controls the Port of Buchanan in Grand Bassa County and the Port of Greenville, in Sinoe County respectively.

But Mr. Gull on his official social media page over-posted over the weekend disclosed that he will provide information concerning the entire episode regarding the alleged corruption at the Buchanan Port linking him and others.

Gull together with the Chief Statistician, Amara Kamara allegedly stole U$200,000.00 from the coffer of the Buchanan Port; both men were suspended by the government of Liberia through National Port Authority on Friday, July 16, 2021, for their alleged involvement in diverting monies intended for the government of Liberia into their personal accounts.

Howbeit, a couple of days ago, Gull posted on his official Facebook page saying: “It’s about time I speak and make clear about the entire allegation. I had no option than accepting under duress, Fear of death, being in imminent danger” he noted.

According to him, he has all of the relevant documents and communication in his possession, and locking his office wouldn’t mean better for the National Port Authority.

“Locking my office not to get hold of any document was a failed attempt because every document I deemed essential, was kept on my iCloud and it will be published to the press and the Liberian people,” he said.

Regarding his official public response to the allegation that links him to corruption at the Buchanan Port, his page indicated, “I won’t be the sacrificial lamb”.

“I am safe now, I can talk, if it wasn’t about my integrity, I would have kept quiet “he emphasized.

Mr. Gull however said he will apologize to friends that his clarity will expose, but indicated that it’s about his name being rubbed in the dirt while the real culprits are the big guns.

Mr. Gull and the comptroller of the port of Buchanan were suspended and recommended to the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission for investigation following the embossment of over three hundred thousand United States dollars.

According to a preliminary investigation, before he left the country, admitted to stealing over US$200,000.

Meanwhile, Mr. Malcolm Scott, the head of public relations at the NPA, efforts to contact him to speak on the allegation leveled against his boss, Mr. Bill Tweahway did not materialize…
