FORMER PRESIDENTIAL RELIGIOUS ADVISOR ARRESTED FOR FRAUD AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Liberia National Police has arrested and is investigating Rev. M. Emmanuel Nimely, the former Religious Advisor to former President George M. Weah, for his alleged involvement in theft by deception, receiving money under false pretenses, visa fraud, and suspected human trafficking.

According to a press release issued today and signed by the LNP spokesperson Cecelia G. Clarke, Rev. Nimely was arrested on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Forkay-Klon Family Fellowship Church in the Baptist Seminary Community, Montserrado County, where he serves as Pastor. His arrest was based on a complaint filed by some of the victims, headed by H. Momo Fortune, Jr.

Police initial investigation revealed that in early August 2023, Suspect Nimely received the amount of Nine Hundred Seventy United States Dollars (USD 970.00) each from ninety (90) persons, totaling Eighty-Seven Thousand Three Hundred United States Dollars (USD 87,300.00), under the pretense of taking them to Australia to attend a church conference.

Rev. Emmanuel Nimely is currently in police custody undergoing investigation and will be forwarded to court.
