FORTUNE SKINCARE’S VACUUM THERAPY TEMPORARILY HALTED BY LMDC OVER SAFETY COMPLIANCE ISSUES

MONROVIA – The Liberian Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) has placed a temporary ban on suction-based vacuum therapy procedures carried out by Fortune Skincare, citing concerns over regulatory compliance and patient safety.

While classified as a non-invasive procedure, vacuum therapy must still adhere to global safety and clinical standards. According to the LMDC, practitioners offering such services are expected to have training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid, as well as a thorough understanding of human anatomy—including skin, fat, and muscle structures. Additionally, operators must demonstrate competence in managing suction intensity, placing cups correctly, screening for contraindications, and maintaining proper infection control protocols.

Liberian health regulations also require that all medical devices be approved by the Liberia Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA) and used exclusively by trained individuals under the supervision of a licensed physician, especially in procedures that may lead to medical complications.

In response to the suspension, Fortune Skincare has submitted the necessary documentation for verification of its operator’s qualifications. The business is reportedly cooperating with both the LMDC and LMHRA to address all compliance requirements.

The LMDC emphasized its dedication to protecting public health, reaffirming that all cosmetic and therapeutic procedures with clinical relevance must conform to national laws and ethical standards.
