JUDGE KOLLIE WINS SWAL AWARD – CONGRATULATES NEW LEADERSHIP

The Residence Judge of the National Labor Court of Liberia has won the Congress Committee of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) 2023 football development award.

Presenting the certificate of appreciation to the lenient counselor on behalf of the Committee, veteran sports journalist Lewis Konoe said the award is in recognition to Judge Kollie dedicated efforts and supports toward the development and promotion of football in Liberia.

Receiving the award on behalf of the honoree, Momoh Siryon commended the farsightedness of SWAL and the 2023 Congress Committee for recognizing the contribution of the former President of the Liberia Football Referee Association toward football development in the country.

He promised to officially present the award to the honoree upon his return to the country.

The honoree served as a central referee in Liberia, upon his retirement, he served as president of the Liberia Football Referee Association at which time he made the institution vibrant, making it one of the best on the continent; thus giving many referees the opportunity to officiate international matches.

The honoree is a legal luminary, a renowned veteran football referee instructor and a football administrator.

Based on his vast experienced in the legal sector, he was appointed by the president of the Republic of Liberia Dr. George M. Weah, Sr. in 2021 as Residence Judge, National Labor Court, Temple of Justice to serve his country.

The jurisdiction of the National Labor Court is confined to causes which involve employees, workman, andor causes to which employees other than civil servant and specific categories of government employees such as military and police are parties.

Meanwhile, Judge Kollie has congratulated the newly elected leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia and the entire membership for committing to a smooth, free, fair and transparent process.

He has promised to work with the new leadership in any capacity when it is necessary.

On Saturday December 9, 2023, the parent body of all Sports Journalists in Liberia conducted its elections bringing on board a new leadership to lead the affairs of the association for the next three years.

Those elected are Varmah Kamara president, Christopher C. Walker Vice president, Edwin Dolo Secretary General, Jerome Willie Assistant Secretary, Naomi Tappia Financial Secretary, and Yusulf Sherif as Chaplain.

However, the Liberian lawyer has urged the new leadership to work with all members for the improvement and unity of the association.
