LACC COMMENDS USAID FOR SUPPORT AS ANTI-CORRUPTION PARTNERSHIP ADVANCES

Date:

MONROVIA – The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, held a closing meeting with a high-level delegation from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), marking the end of the agency’s mission in Liberia and underscoring a continued partnership in the fight against corruption.

The USAID delegation, led by Mission Director Jim Wright and Angelina Allen-Mpyisi, visited the LACC headquarters where both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing transparency, accountability, and good governance in Liberia.

During the meeting, Mr. Wright praised the LACC for its persistent efforts in promoting integrity and holding individuals accountable. He emphasized the importance of prosecution in anti-corruption work, stating that visible and decisive action by the Commission builds public trust and demonstrates that the institution is actively serving the interests of the Liberian people.

In a notable show of support, USAID donated essential resources to bolster the Commission’s operations, including laptops, office furniture, and a vehicle. The gesture is expected to enhance the LACC’s institutional capacity as it pursues its mandate under increasingly demanding circumstances.

The LACC expressed deep appreciation to USAID for its unwavering support and collaborative spirit. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that corruption is vigorously tackled and that public trust in government institutions is restored and sustained.
