LDEA ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS IN SEPARATE DRUG OPERATIONS

Date:

MONROVIA – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has apprehended two individuals in separate operations in Sinoe and Bomi Counties, marking significant progress in the agency’s ongoing fight against drug trafficking and abuse in the country.

Kofi Boyee, a 20-year-old man, was arrested in Sinoe County with 23 grams of Kush, a type of marijuana, valued at approximately USD $460. Boyee’s arrest occurred during a routine operation, and authorities have confirmed that he is now facing charges related to drug possession.

Meanwhile, in Bomi County, Daniel B. Johnson, 48, was apprehended during a court-ordered search of his property. The search led to the discovery of a significant quantity of marijuana and tramadol, a potent painkiller that is often abused, with an estimated value of USD $385. Johnson has been taken into custody and is expected to face charges for the illegal possession and distribution of controlled substances.

These arrests are part of a broader effort by the LDEA to curb the growing drug trade in Liberia, particularly in rural areas where drug trafficking has been on the rise. The agency has promised to continue its efforts in ensuring that individuals involved in the illegal drug trade are brought to justice.

The LDEA has also called for increased community cooperation and vigilance, as drug-related offenses continue to pose a serious threat to public health and safety in Liberia.
