LNP DENOUNCES ALLEGATIONS AGAINST DEPUTY INSPECTOR GENERAL FREEMAN

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has issued a strong rebuttal to recent allegations made by Mr. Mulbah K. Morlu Jr., which accused Deputy Inspector General of Police for Operations, Cllr. J. Nelson Freeman, of threatening to “hit and kill bike riders.” In an official statement on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, the LNP described these claims as baseless, false, and deeply irresponsible, asserting that such allegations were an attempt to tarnish the reputation of Cllr. Freeman and undermine the integrity of the police force.

The LNP firmly rejected the accusations, emphasizing that Cllr. Freeman has consistently demonstrated professionalism and dedication to ensuring peace and security for all citizens, including those who operate motorbikes and Keke riders. The statement further reiterated that the LNP, as a professional institution, is committed to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the rights of every Liberian.

“We remain steadfast in upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, including bike and Keke riders. Any suggestion to the contrary is a deliberate attempt to damage the credibility of our Deputy Inspector General,” said the LNP spokesperson, DCP Cecelia G. Clarke.

The statement also urged the public to exercise caution and verify any claims before accepting or disseminating unsubstantiated information. It highlighted the LNP’s ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability, and reassured citizens that the police force would not be distracted by false accusations.

Additionally, the LNP called for calm among all citizens, including bike and Keke riders, and encouraged them to remain law-abiding as the judicial process continues. The police force reiterated its respect for the authority of the Supreme Court and pledged to cooperate fully with any legal proceedings related to the matter.

In closing, the Liberia National Police reiterated its dedication to maintaining a safe, secure, and united Liberia, urging anyone with credible evidence of misconduct to come forward through the appropriate channels.
