MARYLAND COUNTY SECURITY TEAM INVITED TO IVORY COAST INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

Date:

By Christian Appleton

MARYLAND, LIBERIA – The Joint Security of Maryland County has received an official invitation from their Ivorian counterparts to attend the 64th Independence Day celebrations of Côte d’Ivoire, which will be held on August 7, 2024. This significant announcement was made by Adul Jallahquay, the head of the Joint Security and Liberia Immigration Services Commander in Maryland.

This year marks 64 years since Côte d’Ivoire gained independence from France on August 7, 1960. Commander Jallahquay highlighted the invitation as a major opportunity not only for security personnel but also for Liberians engaged in cross-border trade with Côte d’Ivoire.

Expressing the readiness of Maryland’s Joint Security to attend the event, Jallahquay emphasized the benefits of such international cooperation. “They inviting us too, I think this is the type of Africa that we need. Negotiations and Collaborations can bring success and other positive impacts in Liberia,” he stated.

This invitation follows a recent event on July 26, 2024, when Maryland’s Joint Security hosted their Ivorian counterparts to celebrate Liberia’s 177th Independence Day. The event, themed “Cross Border Management and Collaborations,” aimed to strengthen ties and improve collaborative efforts between the two neighboring countries.

Leading the delegation to Côte d’Ivoire will be Commander Adul Jallahquay of the Liberia Immigration Services, accompanied by Commander Jmax Roberts of the Liberia National Police in Pleebo, Commander Moses Birr of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency, and other officials. The team is scheduled to depart for Côte d’Ivoire early on the morning of August 7 and return to Liberia on August 8.

This visit underscores the importance of regional cooperation and the mutual benefits that arise from strong international relationships, particularly in the areas of security and trade. The Maryland Joint Security’s participation in Côte d’Ivoire’s Independence Day celebrations marks a continued commitment to fostering positive bilateral relations between the two countries.
