STAUNCH CDC MEMBER CRITICIZES ELECTION OF PUBLIC OFFICE HOLDERS TO CDC LEADERSHIP – SAYS IT VIOLATES CODE OF CONDUCT

Date:

LIBERIA – A staunch member of the Congress for Democratic Change has publicly denounced the election of public office holders to the leadership of the party.

Geeplaye Nyenswah says the election of government officials to the leadership of the party at the just-ended 7th party convention, violates the code of conduct of the country. Nyenswah says the code of conduct forbids public office holders from holding political party positions.

The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) re-elected incumbent President George Manneh Weah as standard-bearer and Mulbah Morlu as chairman at the party’s 7th national convention.

The CDC is a tripartite arrangement that won the 2017 presidential election and brought President Weah to power.

Geeplaye Nyenswah’s attention is specifically drawn to the election of Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee as the party’s new Secretary General; Deputy Finance Minister Samora P. Z. Wolokollie as Vice Chair for Finance and Investment, Montserrado County Electoral District #5 Representative Thomas Fallah, as Vice Chair for Operations; Assistant Gender Minister Mamasee Karbah, Assistant Secretary-General for Press and Propaganda, and Gender Minister Willimina Piso Saydee Tarr, Vice Chair for Political Affairs, amongst others.

Geeplaye says these people are known public officials who should not serve on the leadership of political parties as required by the code of conduct of the country.
