BUCHANAN – Jamel Davis, also known as Tripee Red, and Darius Neor, referred to as “Jump Over It,” have been detained and charged in connection with an armed robbery that took place last week in Buchanan. The suspects were caught just three days after the incident, following a prompt investigation by local law enforcement.
Grand Bassa County Criminal Investigation Division (CSD) Commander, Sophie Mantson, stated that the suspects have a history of using machetes to commit robberies. Numerous complaints of theft and robbery had been lodged against them prior to this incident. The most recent robbery involved the theft of a motorbike from a motorcyclist, who was able to identify the suspects and report the crime to the authorities.
“We are thankful for the rapid response of our officers and the community’s cooperation in bringing these individuals into custody,” Commander Mantson said at a press briefing after the arrests.
The suspects were apprehended during a nighttime patrol on Sunday, April 6, 2025, according to Bassa Police Commander, William Johnson. He noted that these patrols are part of a broader effort to reduce crime and improve safety in Buchanan, especially in high-risk areas and during night hours.
“We are focused on ensuring Buchanan City remains a safer place for everyone,” said Police Chief Johnson. “By intensifying our patrols at night, we aim to prevent crimes before they occur and ensure the community feels secure both at home and on the streets.”
