LIBERIA – The U.S. Embassy in Monrovia has announced a temporary suspension of all nonimmigrant and immigrant visa application services as it transitions to a new visa services provider. The suspension will take effect on August 16, 2024, and will remain in place until a new website for scheduling visa interviews is operational.
In a press release issued on Monday, August 12, 2024, the Embassy clarified that all previously scheduled visa appointments for dates after August 16 will remain valid. However, from August 16 onwards, the ustraveldocs.com website and its associated customer service will no longer be available for scheduling visa appointments in Liberia.
The Embassy provided specific guidance for applicants based on the status of their visa applications. For interviews scheduled on or before August 16, 2024, no further action is required. Applicants can continue to access their accounts on ustraveldocs.com to review appointment details and contact customer service if necessary. For those who have paid the visa application fee but have not yet scheduled an interview, the Embassy strongly encourages them to schedule their visa appointments as soon as possible, as the current scheduling platform will be inaccessible after August 16.
For those who have not paid the visa application fee but are planning to travel to the U.S. in August 2024, applicants should promptly pay the visa application fee and schedule their interviews before the August 16 deadline. For interviews scheduled after August 16, 2024, no additional action is needed at this time. However, applicants will lose access to their ustraveldocs.com accounts after August 16, meaning they will not be able to cancel or reschedule their appointments, nor will they have access to customer service. It is advised to print appointment confirmation letters before the deadline and attend the scheduled interviews if possible.
The U.S. Embassy advises individuals planning to schedule a visa appointment on or after August 16 to regularly check the Embassy’s website for updates and further information on the new visa scheduling service provider as it becomes available. This temporary suspension underscores the Embassy’s efforts to improve its visa services, though it may cause some temporary inconvenience for applicants.
