WAEC LIBERIA SET TO BEGIN 2025 NATIONAL EXAMS, URGES INTEGRITY IN PROCESS

Date:

MONROVIA – The Liberia National Office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is set to begin administering its 2025 national exams for school candidates on Monday, April 28, 2025. According to a press release issued on Thursday, April 24, 2025, the examination period will commence with the Liberia Junior High School Certificate Examination (LJHSCE), scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, April 28 and 29.

A total of 53,562 ninth-grade students from junior high schools across the country will sit the LJHSCE at 396 testing centers. Following this, 47,008 sixth-grade students from various primary schools will sit for the Liberia Primary School Certificate Examination (LPSCE) on Wednesday and Thursday, April 30 and May 1, 2025. The LPSCE will be administered at 397 centers nationwide.

On Friday, May 2, the Liberia National Assessment Test (LNAT) will be conducted for 35,002 third-grade students. Unlike the other exams, the LNAT will be held directly on the students’ respective school campuses.

Later in the academic calendar, the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for 12th graders will begin on Thursday, May 15, and run through Tuesday, June 10, 2025. A total of 53,140 candidates will take the WASSCE at 377 designated centers throughout Liberia.

In anticipation of the examinations, WAEC Liberia’s Head of National Office, Dale G. Gbotoe, has issued a strong warning against all forms of academic dishonesty. He urged students and school authorities to refrain from engaging in exam malpractice, emphasizing that WAEC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, is prepared to take legal action against anyone caught violating exam protocols.

Gbotoe also appealed to the Ministry of Education and other education stakeholders to support WAEC’s efforts in preventing cheating and upholding the integrity of the testing process during both the current and future examinations.
