THREE-WAY CLASH IN LIBERIAN ELECTIONS: CPP RIDING ON CORRUPTION RECORDS TO THREATEN UP AND CDC’S DOMINATION

Date:

MONROVIA – An intense battle for political supremacy is unfolding in the upcoming Liberian elections. The clash involves three political parties: the Unity Party (UP), the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), and the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).

As campaigning for the October 10 elections reached its peak, both Unity Party and CDC are becoming overly confident, boldly declaring they would emerge victorious in the elections without requiring a second ballot. However, they are overlooking the presence of a formidable opponent – the CPP.

CPP, comprises of the Liberty Party and the Alternative National Congress (ANC). They are cleverly strategizing their approach to the campaign. While the other two are using crowd politics, CPP is craftedly using the “Jehovah Witness” model-house to house campaign, which seems to be resonating amongst electorates.

CPP recognizes that both UP and CDC carry significant negative baggage. UP, the former ruling party, has a tainted reputation with a track record marred by corruption and governance issues. On the other hand, CDC, the current ruling party, is facing a turbulent time due to allegations of corruption and weak governance as well. The two parties are even using war crimes suspects to lead their campaigns to state power, while on the other hand, CPP is leading a clean slate. Having a standard bearer and vice standard bearer with clean records.

Realizing the potential this presents, the CPP is meticulously devising a campaign focused on showcasing the flaws and shortcomings of UP and CDC. They are skillfully pointing out the past corruption scandals associated with UP’s governance, effectively reminding the citizens of Liberia of their questionable track record. Similarly, they are shedding light on the present mismanagement and corruption allegations surrounding CDC’s rule, creating an atmosphere of discontent among the populace.

To make it even better for the CPP, UP and CDC are undermining  the security of the state with counter threats of war, which is beginning to manifest itself in Foya, Lofa County where two citizens were killed and several injured in election related clashes between the two political arch rivals.

Capitalizing on the dissatisfaction and disillusionment prevalent among the people, the CPP is managing  to slowly but surely gain momentum. Through their campaign, they are projecting themselves as an alternative force, promising a brighter and more transparent future for Liberia.

As the election day draws closer, the citizens of Liberia are eagerly awaiting the outcome. It becoming evident that a second round of voting is now a real possibility, a scenario that could potentially propel CPP to power. From the look of  things and based on analysis, the once-overlooked third party is miraculously crawling its way into contention, leveraging the negative records of UP and CDC to their advantage.

The nation braces itself for an intense battle at the polls. Unity Party and CDC, no longer as sure of their initial claims of a first-round victory, are suddenly finding themselves facing a formidable opponent in the CPP. All eyes are on Liberia, as the future of the nation hangs in the balance.

Who would emerge triumphant in this three-way clash? Could the negative records of Unity Party and CDC be the catalyst for CPP’s rise to power? The answers are awaited in the upcoming elections, where the fate of Liberia would be decided.
